Job Purpose

Towson University, a Division I member of the East Atlantic Gymnastics League, is accepting applications for an Assistant Coach, Women's Gymnastics. This position, under the direction of the head coach, teaches and provides instruction in the sport of gymnastics and assists in the planning, promotion and administration of a quality Division I gymnastics program.


The Assistant Coach, Women's Gymnastics will provide skill instruction for student athletes. This includes independent planning and implementation of a season long plan for a set group of athletes as well as participation in all aspects of practice instruction and game coaching. Under the direction of the Head Coach the Assistant Coach, Women's Gymnastics will recruit and evaluate prospective student-athletes through the use of New Media Technologies, organizing official visits, including assigning hosts, creating travel itineraries and managing all budgetary elements of visits; while adhering to all NCAA regulations. They will track all admissions through the application process of our prospective student-athletes; provide instruction to student-athlete hosts on department/NCAA policies and procedures for a visit.

Other team support operations include assisting with academic support, fundraising activities, community servicing; including communication and outreach to Alumni. Coordinating with Total Tiger Program director and tracking and maintaining accurate records of all student-athlete participation in Total Tiger programs. Assisting in all team operations including travel, bus, hotel, and restaurant plans. The Assistant Coach, Women's Gymnastics coach will be responsible for knowledge and adherence to NCAA rules. They will complete monthly CARA logs, recruiting logs and other end-of year summaries and correspondence within JUMPForward and in coordination with the Compliance Office. They will also perform other duties as assigned by the Head Coach.


A Bachelor's degree and two years of coaching competitive gymnastics at the JO Level 10 or collegiate level. This position requires knowledge and training specific to the sport of Women's Gymnastics as well as with the handling of gymnastics equipment. The candidate must be familiar with the USAG Level 10 Code of Points and Collegiate Modifications. Strong computer and interpersonal skills are a must. The candidate must be familiar with NCAA recruiting rules and be able to pass the yearly NCAA Compliance Test. Strong administrative, organizational and interpersonal skills are preferred. Attention to detail and the ability to coach each of theĀ four women's gymnastics events are also preferred.
