The Athletics Operations and Facilities Coordinator/Assistant Strength and Conditioning Coach position is a full-time, 10-month staff position reporting to the Associate Director of Athletics. This position is part of the NCAA Division III Ethnic Minorities and Women’s Internship Grant.

The duties for the Athletic Operations and Facilities Coordinator include all aspects of assisting with the scheduling and operations of the athletic facilities, primarily the 160,000 square foot Duchossois Athletic and Recreation Center, as well as the operations of all home competitions. The duties for the Assistant Strength and Conditioning coach include all aspects of assisting with strength training programs for 24 varsity sports and assisting with directing a 13,000 square foot fitness center.

Essential Functions:

Assistant Strength and Conditioning Coach (50%)

  • Assist with supervision of the Fitness Center
  • Assist with training, scheduling and management of student-workers as requested by the Head Strength and Conditioning coach
  • Maintenance of strength training equipment
  • Develop and schedule strength and conditioning orientations and workouts with head coaches and individual students of each assigned team during traditional and non-traditional seasons
  • Develop summer workout and conditioning programs for assigned teams in conjunction with the sport coaching staff
  • Upkeep and maintenance of records on strength programs for assigned teams and specific individual workouts of each student
  • Assist with facility coverage during academic breaks
  • Other duties as assigned

Athletic Operations and Facilities Coordinator (50%)

  • Assist with coordinating event management duties
  • Assist with the oversight of the work study students/building concierges
  • Serve as the point of contact for officials for home contests
  • Assist with managing and assessing facility scheduling requests
  • Assist with the coordination of facility rental requests
  • Implement Bond Sports facility management software
  • Coordinate the assignment of faculty/staff locker assignments with the athletics equipment room staff
  • Serve as a point of contact with dining services and the coordination of training meals
  • Assist with communication with public safety regarding home contests and athletic facilities
  • Serve as an advisor for the student-athlete group 24
  • Other duties as assigned

Minimum Pay: $29,666

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree is required. Candidates must exhibit a strong commitment toward adhering to the policies and guidelines of Washington and Lee’s Physical Education and Athletics Department, NCAA, and ODAC. An emphasis in exercise science, exercise physiology, physical education, or a Masters degree in a related field is preferred.  Good interpersonal and communication skills.   The candidate should have a strength and conditioning certification.  CSCS certification from the NSCA is preferred, or the candidate has the prerequisites and is preparing to take the CSCS exam.  The candidate must be certified in First Aid and CPR.
