Position Description

The Director of Events plays a critical role in the day to day programming of the organization, as events and educational curriculum are the most significant opportunities to provide development and growth across all sports and levels. This individual will create and drive strategy, provide leadership and event management and coordinate the WeCOACH event offerings. The Director of Events is responsible for execution of the annual NCAA Women Coaches Academy and NCAA Academy 2.0 programs, as well as expansion of programs to the high school and club levels. The successful candidate will oversee a broad-scale effort to educate coaches, allies, institutions, conferences, coach and administrator associations, corporations, and foundations in the important work of WeCOACH. This full-time position reports directly to the Executive Director and works closely with the staff in a collaborative effort in executing the WeCOACH events.

 

Position Responsibilities

Events

  • Lead strategy and vision for enhancing WeCOACH programming and resources, including digital offerings for all sports and levels
  • Implement and execute events and develop curriculum across in-person and virtual programs
  • Create new and innovate programs and content to serve the membership
  • Responsible for evolution and management of the NCAA Women Coaches Academy and NCAA Academy 2.0 programs
  • Plan and execute a comprehensive master calendar of events including, but not limited to regional workshops, video chats, and networking receptions/presentations at select sport association national conventions
  • Work with Director of Business to develop and execute registration processes, speaker agreements, participant and speaker communications, financial management and event logistics
  • Work with Director of Business for follow-up communication to registered participants and speakers, including confirmations, agreements, payments, pre-work, and event logistics
  • Assist with and manage event materials and supplies
  • Responsible for specified post-event duties, including but not limited to reconciling final site and service invoices, and post-event evaluations
  • Serve as a member of the Education Committee, developing core-curriculum, session topics, and recruiting speakers
  • Identify and build strategic partnerships with key influencers in the community of sport, including but not limited to other non-profit organizations, professional organizations, sport associations, advocacy organizations and research entities
  • Identify and cultivate educational partnerships at the high school and club levels
  • Travel to WeCOACH events as needed, including all NCAA Academies and others as assigned

General Administration

  • Negotiate and administer hotel and facility contracts
  • Manage all event budgets
  • Assist in identifying partners and sponsors to help fund programming efforts
  • Assist with communication and marketing efforts of WeCOACH events and membership offerings
  • Produce event and post-event reports, if requested
  • Attend annual in-person Board of Directors meeting, if requested
  • Participate in virtual monthly Board of Directors meetings, if requested
  • Assist with communication and marketing efforts of WeCOACH events and membership offerings
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Demonstrated experience in event planning and/or management for 3+ years preferred.
  • Preferred experience in, or substantial knowledge of, college athletics
  • Proven strategic thinker who can develop and execute strategies and processes, particularly around growing and enhancing events
  • Preferred ability to develop core educational curriculums
  • Ability to thrive autonomously and be productive in a virtual environment while meeting deadlines and metrics with minimal supervision
  • Highly organized and pays acute attention to detail
  • Advanced written, oral and interpersonal communication skills to represent the organization positively to multiple internal and external constituents, donors, hotel/facility personnel, and campus and sport community leadership
  • Excellent people and relationship skills and ability to work as a cohesive member of a small, but highly motivated team emphasizing collaboration
  • Personal qualities of integrity, credibility, passion, service-minded and an unwavering commitment to the mission of WeCOACH
  • High capability to work within a fast-moving environment with competing priorities, while also being resourceful and skillful in determining solutions
  • Strong computer/software skills
  • Ability to travel to WeCOACH events or meetings as needed. Requires occasional weekends and nights

 

Salary: $65,000
