The Intercollegiate Athletics Department at Southern Illinois University Edwardsville invites applications for the Head Women’s Basketball Coach position.

Reporting to the Director of Athletics, the Head Women’s Basketball Coach is responsible for the organization and administration of the women’s basketball program including a staff of three full-time assistant coaches, a full-time Director of Operations, and other support staff.  The Head Coach’s main areas of focus include coaching, recruiting, team travel, ensuring budgetary compliance, and handling all other areas of team operations (benchmark expectations will be identified). The selected candidate will develop effective and positive communication methods with players, students, alumni, and the surrounding community, and take an active leadership role in fundraising and public relations activities for both the program and the Athletics Department as a whole.  The Head Coach will also work cooperatively and responsibly with other departments and University personnel including faculty, staff, and administration.

Minimum Acceptable Qualifications:

-Bachelor's degree (transcripts will be required by final interview).
-Minimum of five (5) years of collegiate coaching experience.
-Advanced knowledge and understanding of technical and strategic aspects of the game of basketball.
-Evidence of strong organizational and communication skills.
-Current knowledge of NCAA Division I regulations.
-Proven successful women’s basketball recruiting experience at a collegiate level.
-Evidence of a commitment to academic excellence including athlete graduation.
-Ability to interact effectively with student-athletes, colleagues, and the public.
-Capable and willing to actively plan and participate in fund-raising, promotions, and other similar endeavors as they relate to the women’s basketball programs and the entire Athletics Department.

Preferred Qualifications:

-Master’s degree.
-Seven (7) or more years coaching experience.
-Previous head coaching experience at the collegiate level.
-NCAA Division I coaching experience.
