Germantown Friends School is accepting applications for the position of head coach for its highly competitive softball program. Candidates with the aptitude and/or qualifications for classroom teaching or assistant teaching are especially encouraged to apply.

GFS Softball is looking for a skilled leader, mentor, and communicator with proven coaching experience to help continue to build on a strong tradition. High-level playing experience is preferred (college or beyond). Candidates should be knowledgeable about the most current tactical and technical training methods that apply to softball. It is preferred that applicants illustrate a strong commitment to professional/career development. Applicants must have a demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion and a drive to create a sense of belonging within the program team culture.

We look to the head coach to engage with athletes in a meaningful and intentional way, to demonstrate the ability to coach in a positive manner, and to maintain a competitive team while adhering to the values of the school and the Friends Schools League.

The head coach is responsible for leading the overall softball program (grades 6-12). We will look to the head coach to work collaboratively with other coaches and teams within the program to establish consistent philosophies and teaching methods. The head coach will be expected to mentor fellow coaches in their coaching development. We also expect the head varsity coach to conduct camps, clinics, and individual training throughout the year.

This is a part-time, year-round position. In-season is from February to May each weekday afternoon with some Saturday games. Practice is 3:00-6:00 p.m., plus games. Daily availability at these times is essential.

Employment is subject to satisfactory completion of reference checks and proper clearances as required by the Pennsylvania Department of Education. Current PA background clearances (PA Criminal, FBI/Fingerprints, PA Childline) are preferred.
