Florida Atlantic University
2018 WCA Graduate, Class #44

Assistant coach Alice McCall joined the swimming and diving staff of Florida Atlantic University (FAU) in August of 2016. McCall has been a pivotal member of the team with specific responsibility for the distance swimming program.

The program has seen major performance improvement with multiple distance competitors setting lifetime bests over the past three years, at both the Conference USA and Coastal Collegiate Athletics Association Swimming and Diving Championships. Specifically, Spence Atkins and Josh Fountain have achieved NCAA B-cut times in the 1650-yard freestyle events, as well as Fountain breaking the school record in this event, under McCall’s leadership.

McCall has been an active member and contributor in the WeCOACH organization this past season and has developed herself personally and professionally alongside others in the select mentor program.

McCall joined the FAU swim program from Toledo, where she was the assistant swimming coach for two years. During her time there, she was responsible for leading the mid-distance and distance swimming programs, resulting in 95 percent of the squad swimming personal best times. This was achieved by developing, documenting and communicating the season plans for both squads, and supporting each swimmer on an individual basis to help them reach their goals. She was also the recruiting coordinator for the 2015-16 season, recruiting at both the national and international level and closing out the year with a program-impacting recruiting class.

Prior to joining the Rockets, she started her U.S. swimming career in Dallas where she was a standout distance swimmer at Southern Methodist University (SMU) for four years. She was a consistent scorer and medal-earner for the Mustangs and was named a team captain for her senior season.

A native of Wigan, Great Britain, McCall was a member of the Great Britain Open Water squad and represented Great Britain in numerous international competitions, including the FINA World Cup series, European Cup series and European Junior Championships achievingnumerous Top-5 and Top-10 finishes and was a 2007 World Championships qualifier.

McCall graduated from SMU with a BA in Sociology, was awarded the Scholar Balor award for academic achievement. She is currently studying for her MBA in Sport Management.
