University of Minnesota, The Tucker Center for Research on Girls & Women in Sport
Nicole LaVoi is an expert in coach education and girls and women in sports. Currently, she is a senior lecturer in the area of social and behavioral sciences in the School of Kinesiology at the University of Minnesota, where she is also the director of the Tucker Center for Research on Girls & Women in Sport and co-founder of the Minnesota Youth Sport Research Consortium.
Previously Nicole was a research associate at the University of Notre Dame’s Center for Ethical Education, where she helped develop the Play Like a Champion educational series.
She has taught as a USPTA professional and coached tennis at all levels – most notably as the head coach at Wellesley College (1994–98). She played tennis all four years at Gustavus Adolphus College (NCAA D-III), where she was a two-time Academic All-American and part of the National Championship team in 1990!
Nicole continuously delivers research-based coach and parent education and motivational workshops across the country. Currently she serves on the National Advisory Panel for espnW, and the advocacy committee for the Women’s Sports Foundation.
