Lisa L. Langston, Ph.D.

Dr. Lisa Langston is a native of Dallas, Texas. She developed a love of athletics at an early age and following high school as a four-sport athlete, became a two-sport standout at Texas A&M University, excelling in both women’s basketball and track & field. She’s a member of the Texas A&M Athletic Hall of Fame and still ranks amongst all-time women’s basketball leaders in both scoring and steals. In April 2024, Dr. Langston will be inducted to the Dallas Independent School District Athletic Hall of Fame.
After graduating with a Bachelor of Science in Physical Education from Texas A&M University in 1986, Dr. Langston played professional basketball in Germany and Spain. She returned to Texas in 1990 to begin her career with Fort Worth Independent School District (Fort Worth ISD), as a high school Physical Education/Health teacher and coach.
After five years of teaching and coaching, Dr. Langston was named Intramural Coordinator for Fort Worth ISD middle school sports. Nearly 30 years and multiple roles later, she currently serves as the Director of Athletics within Fort Worth ISD, where she leads the Professional Learning Coaches Academy and strives to create meaningful opportunities and experiences for all student-athletes.
Dr. Langston is a lifelong learner who embraces opportunities for professional growth. She holds a Master of Education in Educational Administration from Tarleton State University (1998) and a Ph.D. in Kinesiology from Texas Woman’s University (2010), in addition to numerous professional certifications. She’s actively involved with her profession at the local, state, and national level, frequently contributing as panelist, speaker, and committee member for a variety of organizations.
In December 2020, she was elected President of the NIAAA (National Interscholastic Athletic Administrators Association), the first Black female to ever hold that position. She continues to serve the NIAAA as a member of their national faculty. Dr. Langston was awarded the NFHS Citation in 2021 for her outstanding contributions to interscholastic athletics. In 2022, the Texas A&M University School of Education and Human Development honored Dr. Langston as an Outstanding Alumni.
