Description
This position is responsible for the administration and supervision of all aspects of the Dickinson College Field Hockey program. The Head Coach is responsible for managing a competitive roster of student-athletes while making both academic and athletic success a priority and embracing the Division III liberal arts experience. The position is responsible for the recruitment, retention and development of quality student-athletes, organizational and fiscal management of the program, scheduling and conducting practices/games and the instruction and implementation of competitive game strategies.
Essential Functions:
- Educate and develop student-athletes to prepare them for success within the field hockey program, classroom, and community. Plan and implement valuable learning experiences where student-athletes are challenged to excel both in the classroom and within the field hockey program. Maintain a high level of involvement in the personal growth, academic achievement and health and welfare of program members through individual meetings and check-ins. Provide leadership opportunities through involvement in program activities. Prepare team members for success in competition through a field hockey specific conditioning program, development and refinement of individual skills, and the introduction of offensive and defensive game strategies. Provide great leadership and coaching during practice sessions as well as during competition. Build a competitive and inclusive culture through various team building activities.
- Recruit qualified student-athletes to Dickinson through attending camps, showcases, games, practices, etc. Initiate and maintain communication with prospective recruits through letters, email, telephone calls, social media, home visits and hosting/coordinating on-campus visits based on NCAA compliance standards and regulations.
- Management of operational/administrative functions. Oversees the fiscal/budgetary components for the field hockey program. Schedule all practices and games. Organizes team travel, meals, and overnight accommodations. I consultation with the athletic director, determine the equipment and uniform needs for the program. Coordinate all game preparation from video breakdown to scouting reports and on field walk throughs. In collaboration with the Athletic Director, hires and supervises assistant coaching staff.
- Create and maintain relationships alumni athletes and families, and friends of the field hockey program through regular communication. Work with Advancement to cultivate fund raising opportunities. Maintain relationships and engages with alumni athletes and parents through telephone calls, letters, emails, and creating/attending alumni events. Plan and implement community programming such as clinics, camps, and service

Master’s Degree
current First Aid/CPR certification
