Wesleyan College, a national leader in women’s education and empowerment, invites applications for the position of Head Coach for Women’s Wrestling. As the first college in the world chartered to grant degrees to women, Wesleyan champions leadership, academic excellence, and opportunity for women — both in the classroom and through athletics.
The Head Coach will oversee all aspects of the Women’s Wrestling program, which is aligned with NAIA guidelines and reflects the College’s mission to foster student growth, integrity, and achievement. This role provides a unique opportunity to lead a growing sport at a historic institution dedicated to the advancement of women.

Primary Responsibilities
• Program Development & Leadership: Build, lead, and grow a competitive Women’s Wrestling program in accordance with NAIA guidelines, institutional policies, and the College’s strategic vision for athletics.
• Recruitment & Retention: Attract, enroll, and retain student-athletes who demonstrate academic promise, athletic ability, and a commitment to personal growth.
• Training & Performance: Develop and implement practice schedules, technical training, conditioning programs, and match strategies that promote peak performance and long-term athlete development.
• Scheduling & Logistics: Organize all facets of competition and team operations, including scheduling matches and tournaments, coordinating travel, and ensuring compliance with hosting and safety protocols.
• Budgeting & Fundraising: Manage the program’s operating budget responsibly. Lead fundraising efforts and cultivate relationships with donors, sponsors, and campus partners to support program growth.
• Student-Athlete Success: Foster a team culture that supports academic achievement, emotional well-being, and leadership development in collaboration with academic advisors and campus support services.
• Compliance & Risk Management: Ensure full adherence to NAIA standards, institutional policies, and applicable conference guidelines. Model ethical behavior and maintain athlete safety standards at all times.
• Culture & Community Engagement: Build a positive, empowering team environment rooted in discipline, accountability, and mutual respect. Represent the program on campus and in the broader community through outreach and engagement efforts.

Minimum Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution.
• Experience coaching women’s wrestling at the high school, collegiate, or elite club level.
• Comprehensive knowledge of wrestling techniques, training methods, and athlete safety.
• CPR, AED, and First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain upon hire).
• Strong organizational, leadership, and communication skills.
• Commitment to mentoring and developing student-athletes.

Preferred Qualifications
• Master’s degree in education, sports management, kinesiology, or a related field.
• Collegiate coaching experience, including recruiting, training program design, and athlete support.
• Familiarity with NAIA rules, eligibility requirements, and regulatory standards.
• Involvement with USA Wrestling or similar organizations supporting female athlete development.
• Demonstrated success in launching or expanding athletic programs.
