Associate Vice President of Development, Executive Director of Individual and Family Giving
University of Notre Dame

Sara Liebscher is in her 16th year in Development with the University of Notre Dame, where she currently serves as the Associate Vice President of Development and Executive Director of Family and Individual Giving. In this capacity, she leads a team of nine Senior Directors who collectively oversee all of the University’s regional and athletics leadership fundraisers, as well as their administrative staff.

Prior to this role, she served as the Senior Director of Athletics Advancement, overseeing the fundraising efforts and operations for all Athletics priorities and serving as the liaison between the Athletics and Development Departments. Under her leadership, Liebscher helped develop a strategic business plan for the creation of the University’s Athletics fundraising operation in 2013-14. Additionally, an initiative to fully endow all of the University’s coaching positions and athletics scholarships was launched, with her team raising record funding across the 26 varsity sports – more than $500M during the Boldly campaign, including six new facilities, 13 endowed coaches, 38 endowed scholarship positions, and annual fund growth of 450%. For her work on this initiative and record-breaking levels of support raised, she was honored as the 2018 National Association of Athletic Development Directors (NAADD) Fundraiser of the Year.

Originally from Davenport, Iowa, Liebscher has been a member of the Notre Dame family since birth, with her parents having attended Notre Dame and St. Mary’s respectively. Liebscher holds both a Bachelors (1991) and Masters (1993) Degree from the University, where she played and coached for Muffet McGraw. She was a four-year Monogram winner and captain of the women’s basketball team, and was the first student-athlete to record a triple-double in school history.
