Wesleyan College(http://www.wesleyancollege.edu/), a historic leader in women’s liberal arts education located in Macon, Georgia, invites applications for the position of Head Coach for Competitive Cheer. This full-time position plays a critical role in advancing Wesleyan’s commitment to athletic excellence, leadership development, and student success. The Head Coach will oversee all aspects of the competitive cheer program and cultivate an inclusive, empowering environment for female student-athletes.

Primary Responsibilities

• Program Leadership: Plan, organize, and direct all phases of a competitive cheer program, including team development, strategic planning, and long-term growth.
• Student-Athlete Development: Recruit and mentor student-athletes who exemplify academic integrity, athletic ability, and leadership potential. Foster individual skill development, team unity, and character-building through effective coaching practices.
• Training & Safety: Design dynamic practice sessions that emphasize performance improvement, injury prevention, and mental resilience. Ensure all activities align with recognized cheerleading safety and stunting protocols (AACCA/USA Cheer).
• Competition & Engagement: Organize team participation in NAIA-sanctioned competitions, school spirit events, and local outreach opportunities to enhance campus and community engagement.
• Operations Management: Oversee program logistics including budgeting, travel coordination, scheduling, facilities usage, and inventory management of uniforms and equipment.
• Regulatory Compliance: Maintain adherence to all institutional, conference (SSAC), and NAIA policies and procedures. Serve as a model of ethical conduct and compliance for team members.
• Campus Collaboration: Work in close partnership with athletic training staff, strength and conditioning coaches, the Office of Admissions, and faculty advisors to support the overall wellbeing and academic success of student-athletes.
• Athletic Department Support: Contribute to department-wide initiatives and events; participate in professional development; perform other duties as assigned by the Athletic Director.

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.
• Demonstrated coaching experience in competitive cheer (collegiate, high school, or elite club level).
• Knowledge of cheer safety guidelines and regulations; AACCA/USA Cheer safety certification preferred.
• Current CPR, AED, and First Aid certification or willingness to obtain immediately upon hire.
• Strong communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills.
• A passion for supporting the academic and personal development of student-athletes.

Preferred Qualifications

• Master’s degree in education, sports management, kinesiology, or a related field.
• Experience recruiting and coaching within a collegiate athletics environment.
• Working knowledge of NAIA rules and compliance standards.
• Proven track record of program development and competitive success.
• Experience developing student-centered athletic programs in a small college environment.
