Description
DUTIES: Responsible for the leadership and development of staff and student athletes including:
Discipleship
-Discipleship of 1 graduate assistant, and student athletes in the program, to facilitate spiritual growth in each employee and student athlete
-Teaching and modeling the value of Christian competition to the women’s soccer staff, and student athletes
-Counseling team members in disciplinary, academic, or personal matters while consulting with LETU administration on matters requiring resolution of problems
Recruiting
-Identify, research, evaluate, and recruit prospective student athletes who can thrive in the LeTourneau University environment while excelling as Christians, scholars, and athletes
-Filling a roster that is able to pursue an elite level of excellence at the conference and national levels
-Accountable for the retention of student athletes within the program
Excellence
-Strive to ensure we are the most successful program in the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference (SCAC) in all facets, with an expectation of becoming nationally competitive
-Prepare student-athletes in specific event analyses and related planning strategies
Service
-Regularly serve in the department in any area as needed, including spiritual development, home events oversight, and fundraising activities
-Demonstrate support for the development and overall growth of the athletic department in tangible ways
-Create annual service and mission opportunities for student athletes to invest in the community
Administrative Effectiveness
-Assemble, develop, and evaluate assistant coaches to maximize student athlete development
-Manage the women’s soccer staff to ensure the professional development of each direct report that should lead to an efficient, discipleship driven culture of excellence
-Monitoring academic progress and acting as a liaison to the program
-Ensure compliance with the University, SCAC, and NCAA policies and regulations
-Oversight of all team budgets, while monitoring, verifying, and reconciling expenditures of budgeted funds
-Coordinating the scheduling, planning and management of home and away events
-Active engagement with alumni, coordinating at least 2 events per year, along with a quarterly newsletter in concert with Alumni Relations
-Performing other duties as requested by the Vice President of Athletics, or Deputy Athletic Director
QUALIFICATIONS: LeTourneau University seeks a person with an enthusiastic and contagious Christian faith committed to a Christian higher education that integrates Christian faith with learning.
Bachelor’s degree is required; master’s degree preferred
3-5 years of related experience, preferably in the coaching of athletic programs at the collegiate level
Excellent ability to work cooperatively with other administrators, coaches, students, and faculty members
Exemplifying an elite level of professionalism
Ability to be a dynamic leader within the athletic department
Strong prioritization and organizational skills
Good written and oral communication skills
Demonstrated understanding of and commitment to NCAA Division III
An acceptance of and commitment to Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord
